Camping at Etherley Farm

We welcome you to stay at our straight forward and informal campsite situated on our farm at the foot of Leith Hill in picturesque Surrey countryside. Our campsite is open from 1st April to 31st October (weather permitting).

The site is basic and simply two fields around our farm. We do not allocate pitches so you can choose your perfect spot, either tucking yourself away in a corner of a field or enjoy a hassle-free gathering with your family and friends. There are occasions when not all of the site is available, due to whole field bookings and Duke of Edinburgh bookings. However, this will be explained upon arrival when you check in. On these occasions and during busy summer weekends we try to keep our booking numbers at a level where you still have space around your tents for children (or adults) to play and enjoy the late evening sun with your friends and family.

Out of peak season and during the week things are much more tranquil, but as a working farm there will be some noise from both machinery and the animals - the geese and ducks ‘chatter’ even throughout the night! Indeed, you may be asked to clear the way as we let our geese out during the summer and autumn months or when we are running the sheep in for their regular check overs.

To complete your camping experience you are able to have your own small campfire. Logs are available at our onsite shop, or feel free to bring your own. Whilst we are surrounded by woodland it is owned by the National Trust who carefully manage it to promote wildlife. Therefore, however tempting, we ask you not to remove any wood from any woodland.

When making a booking, please remember that we are a basic and seasonal campsite; out of season the fields are part of the farm. Whilst we have upgraded our facilities this year, we still aim to be an informal site, where people come to enjoy the simplicity of their surroundings.

We are a popular DofE campsite. If you would like to make a DofE booking please email us at
